Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 11:05AM Tweet Our friend, Chelsea, the fabulous blogger for Frolic! Blog, posed a question on her Twitter page this morning that got us thinking... Here's what she posted: 'I still don't really get the multiple outfits, props, editorial spread for an engagement. What do you does one do with all those photos?' What does one do with them? While we can't get enough of great engagement photo sessions, as seen in our widely popular Bride in the City blog series ... she does have a point! So, we want to hear from you!
Here are some other reasons to have an engagement session:
- It's practice! Practice makes perfect, right? Well, your wedding day is not a day to just 'wing it' in front of the camera. If you know you are a bit camera shy, going on an adventure with your fiance and your chosen wedding photogs will surely help make the big day a breeze :)
- It's fun! Wedding planning can be quite hectic sometimes and it's easy to forget to just take some time for the two of you. While technically, an engagement shoot is still wedding related, it's fun, too :) You can get lost in your relationship and enjoy each other, while your super sneaky and oh-so talented wedding photogs take it all in.
- It's a memory! Let's not diss being engaged! This is a special time! One you should remember and will want to remember when you are older. These images will give you the tool you need to guarantee some walks down memory lane.
- It's an excuse to shop! Ok, so maybe this is a stretch and definitely won't work on your hubby-to-be, but getting some new clothes and accessories for this shoot is always a plus, right???
As if these reasons aren't enough, here is some eye-candy to tickle your fancy ... These images are from different Bride in the City posts we've blogged ... simply to click on the photo to unveil the entire blog post. Enjoy!

My sister took our engagement photos. Each of our photos (taken throughout the city of Portland, OR) became the labels for each reception table. We had a Mt Hood table, Powell's books, Rose Garden, City of Bridges, Old Town, etc. We had one called He Said I Love You with a picture of where Ryan first said he loved me. They turned out great! On the back of each Table Title, I explained a little about each photo and it's significance. Our guests loved them!
