An Orange County Wedding at Casino San Clemente
When I was married in Cannon Beach, OR (5+ years ago!!) the theme was beach-chic … so I was reminded of that day when I saw the details of Corey and Rayne’s Orange County wedding. I love the neutral colors paired with the turquoise … and of course I adore the mini cupcakes :) … red velvet is a personal favorite of mine! Hope you love!
Brandy Smith of High Society Event Planning was our wedding coordinator. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Brandi and her assistant Dawn. There is just no way we could have pulled this wedding off without her. She understood how hard it is to juggle being a parent to a 2 year old boy while planning a wedding. She guided us every step of the way and referred us to all the right vendors. She worked with us on our budget and made sure we got the most for our money. She understood our vision completely and acted as a middle man between the vendors and us. Brandi is a perfectionist and you want someone like her running the show on your special day. Our wedding was flawless and the best day of my life because I had no stress what-so-ever. Because everything was in Brandi’s hands, I knew nothing would go wrong and had total piece of mind. That would have never been possible without all her help and hard work. I think having a good wedding coordinator is the key to being a happy bride.
Design Visage did hair and makeup. Lauren of Design Visage is truly an artist. Her work speaks for itself. I just love her. We hit it off right away when I booked her to do my hair and makeup for our engagement shoot. She was so laid back and easy to get along with. Within minutes, we were giggling and gossiping and she was so great and meticulous. It only took her one hour to transform my look to glamorous and I felt so pretty. 8 hours after she did my makeup and hair, I looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe that it was still flawless! At that point, I knew I didn’t want anyone else doing my hair and makeup but her and I booked her for the wedding day immediately.
Brett Hickman came highly recommended to us by our wedding coordinator, Brandy Smith. We knew right away when we met him that he was the guy for us. He is so laid-back, enthusiastic about photography and you can just tell the guy loves what he does. We booked him before we had booked anything else and we knew we were getting him for a steal. Most photographers would charge an arm and a leg for the services he provided. He made the whole experience so much fun. We can say with complete confidence that he will be our photographer for the rest our lives. I can’t imagine anyone else doing a better job than Brett. He was so dedicated to getting the perfect shots. We loved how he experimented with different techniques and tried new things. Our engagement photos were unbelievable and he even captured our two year old surfing! That was an amazing gift for our son, who will have those pictures forever. Brett did an amazing job capturing our wedding day, taking over 1,000 shots. The pictures were absolutely beautiful and he was able to photograph every wonderful moment and the overall mood of the whole day. Brett didn’t treat us like we were clients, he treated us like friends which is why our experience with him made our wedding extra special. He goes above and beyond for his clients and we hope our friendship with him continues for a very long time.
Ambiance Designs by Shawn Adams did all the decor and flowers. Shawn Adams did a great job of creating a cool, beachy, sexy atmosphere. Because it was an evening wedding, we wanted to focus more on mood lighting rather than an over-abundance of flowers. He used tons of votives in mercury glass to give the ballroom a lovely glow. The table tops had three different types of arrangements that included starfish, shells, orchids, and assorted bud vases with various blooms. He transformed the ballroom beautifully. It took my breath away.
We wanted to get married at the Casino San Clemente which was built in 1937. After many years of being closed, it’s been restored and recently opened its doors to the public for special events. My parents have great memories of the Casino back when it was open in the 70’s and although we had heard the stories, neither Rayne nor I had ever been inside and weren’t sure what to expect. Well…we absolutely fell in love with the Casino when we saw it for the first time! It was better than we had expected!!! We knew we would need a large venue to accommodate all our friends and family and we really wanted a wedding in our hometown, San Clemente. The Historic Casino in North Beach was the perfect setting for our special day. Furthermore, it meant so much to us that we were married in our neighborhood. Our first home together was just down the street from the venue and some of our closest friends (including most of our wedding party) live within walking distance. The Casino is just right around the corner from our favorite beach, 204, where we spend most of our free time. This venue is both special and personal to us and we couldn’t have been happier about the spot.
We chose to have miniature cupcakes rather than a big wedding cake. It worked out great because guests could graze the cupcake table when they wanted a sweet bite. Page Bowman of Itty Bitty Sweets provided the delicious cupcakes. We had three different flavors: lemon, caramel, and red velvet. She even made us an individual small cake for the cake cutting pictures. Not only were the cupcakes beautiful, they were very tasty.
Andy Felicitas of Playtime Attractions was our DJ and he was awesome!!! A few weeks before our wedding we met up with him and spent an hour brainstorming over ceremony and reception music. He was so open to anything we wanted and we liked that he didn’t do the cheesy, typical wedding music that’s always so overplayed at most weddings. He was very receptive and played everything we had asked. He was so professional and got everyone on the dance floor. The dance floor stayed packed all night which is obviously the sign of a good DJ. All of our guests were very pleased with the music and he helped make our wedding so much fun.
