San Juan Capistrano Event at Serra Plaza
We first fell in love with Serra Plaza as a wedding venue when we featured this gorgeous styled shoot. And we continue to love it. We are thrilled to feature this stunning real wedding! Hope you love!
We wanted a soft vintage palette. We also didn’t want to outshine the beauty of our venue (Serra Plaza) so we kept it understated and natural.
I had seen onelove photography on many blogs and also from a friend’s wedding photos so I knew I had to reach out to them. I never thought I’d hit it off so well with a photographer, especially after meeting with others. onelove photography was not only extremely professional, but they are all so sweet, chill, understanding and accommodating. They really just “get it”, not to mention are unbelievably talented. Sara, the owner is a star and was always so great to talk to and had great tips! Jessica our photographer was fun, made us feel super comfortable and captured amazing shots. We are very happy with our photos! Love onelove!
We had a 2-tier wedding cake made by Jay’s Catering. One tier was tiramisu and the other was chocolate kahlua cream. The cake had a ruffle effect made of frosting and our florist put a single flower on it. We also served cupcakes.
After 2 months of tirelessly searching all over southern California, we were lucky enough to finally come across Serra Plaza in San Juan Capistrano. From the moment I walked in, I knew….I even did a happy dance. It was private, unknown, outdoors and had the Spanish charm I’d been looking for. The old church pews and white lights strung across the plaza sealed the deal!
BB Blossom was our florist. They were extremely professional and creative. I fully trusted them and their style. They did a beautiful job and completely understood and executed the look I was going for. They also provided all of the votives, vases and jars.
Jay’s Catering catered our event and were awesome! We served tri-tip chimichuri, pan seared halibut and Mediterranean chicken. All were fabulous. Also the passed appetizers at cocktail hour were delish! The beef wellington appetizer is a definite must! They are also a one stop shop as they were also our bakery and rental house!
Wedding planning can get very stressful, but try and not take it all too seriously and remember why you’re doing all of this in the first place….because you love each other! It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all of the perfect weddings you see in magazines and on wedding blogs, the ideas and opinions from others and all of the high prices. Try to weed through it all and choose what’s best for you and your partner.
We LOVED our invitations! They were made at “Where’s the Party?” in Newport Beach, CA. They were great at understanding my style and color palette and were able to tie it all in. They turned out beautifully. They were also great at communicating with us and completed our order earlier then they quoted us! Love them!
Our save the dates were made by Wedding Paper Divas and also turned out great!
Melanie: I thought standing up at the alter would be nerve wracking since everyone would be staring at us but it turned out to be my favorite moment. We were somehow able to block everyone else out and focus solely on each other. It felt like we were the only two people there for that short time. Although there were 200 sets of eyes on us, it was an intimate moment.
Kris: My favorite moment of the entire day was getting to spend time alone with my new wife while cocktail hour was wrapping up. We were walked upstairs to the bridal suite after pictures to enjoy a few moments alone and some champagne. It was our only time alone during the entire evening and a pretty cool moment, I’ll never forget it.
