When I first glanced at this bride and her style, I was immediately reminded of Zooey Deschanel ... do you agree? This Denver wedding had just the right amount of formal details and elegance that we love around here. I love her lace dress and I love that this bride is a 'winter girl' because that's what I am! I hope you love it!
I feel like the theme of our wedding happened by chance. When I started planning our wedding I knew I wanted an all lace wedding dress, which I got. I also wanted a winter wedding. So once I found my dress I started looking at venues and happened upon The Brown Palace Hotel. The Brown Palace is a historic hotel in Downtown Denver. Being that our venue is a historic place I decided to go with a vintage theme. When I started deciding on the décor of the wedding ceremony and reception I did not have to do too much, the hotel is beautiful in itself so there was not much I wanted to add. The canvas was already painted. So I started adding to the theme of the wedding with my accessories, music for ceremony, and table settings. It by far surpassed my expectations because I was open to creativity. I never had a particular wedding in mind so I guess it would of been hard for me to be disappointed. Also, because the venue was so glamorous I wanted my wedding to be formal. I find that my family and friends don't get dressed up and have a "date night" with their partners enough. It was my excuse to make everyone have a romantic evening. I also knew winter was the time for me because I did not want to be a sweaty mess in my beautiful dress. Summer is not my thing, I am a winter woman.
At first I started doing the wedding planning all on my own. I picked the colors, bought my dress, signed a contract at The Brown Palace Hotel and started working on the details. One day it dawned on me that I didn't have a person to handle everything on the actual wedding day, so I started looking at planners. I chose A Touch of Bliss to help me out. They had a package that fit my needs to a tee. They helped so much and I highly recommend that all brides do this. I did not want my mom, family or friends "working" that day. I needed them to have fun with me and enjoy the evening.
Our florist was amazing!!!! Swank Stems is who we hired to design my bouquet, bridesmaid bouquets, corsages, boutonnieres, and the ceremony flowers. They did an amazing job putting together what I was looking for. She even added some beautiful gems and pearls to them. I wish I could have kept them forever.
As part of the package with The Brown Palace Hotel we were provided with flowers for the dinning tables for the reception and they too were amazing!
The venue itself made me choose it. I walked into The Brown Palace Hotel and it just felt perfect. The one thing I really like about it is that it is always there. We can go and revisit our wedding day anytime we want. It was not an empty space were you rent things to fill it with. It is a place with restaurants, tea time, and ambiance. We already have our anniversary planned. We will be staying at the hotel we got married at, they gave us a certificate for our anniversary dinner and they will remake a mini version of our wedding cake that evening, all part of the deal. The other great thing was that almost everything is included in the wedding package. It made it really easy for us.
We hired DJ Maestro - Tony London for our wedding day music. He was hands down the best DJ I could of asked for. He had fun with everything we were doing, he was very professional and I would recommend him to everyone I meet. He even recently won Best DJ in Denver. Duh!!! Of course he would win!!
Before Paul asked me to marry him I was visiting some galleries on an art walk. I came across a studio of a particular photographer named Jackie at Selah Photography. She had photos displayed throughout the studio and I LOVED them. I grabbed her card in hopes that one day I would be getting married. A few weeks later Paul asked me to marry him. When we started looking at photographers I wanted to do it right and I looked at 3 photographers. All of them did amazing work, but in the end I liked Jackie as a person more than the others and wanted her to be a part of our special day. Now we just need to have some kiddos for her to photograph.
