This wedding was submitted to us by LVL Weddings and Events ... we just love those ladies!! I love the idea of being married at Sony Pictures Studios, especially if it means being able to have your 'getaway car' be the original Ghostbusters car from the movie!! How awesome is that? I also really adore their wedding cake by Vanilla Bakshop. Enjoy!
We couldn't have chosen a better photographer! Ken Kienow was one of the nicest people to work with and we love his journalist style. When we met him for an interview, we felt like he had been someone we had been friends with for years. He made us feel relaxed and at ease during our wedding day and we could rest easy knowing that he was getting amazing shots.
We hired a coordinator, Heather Hoesch, from LVL Weddings and Events. Looking back, James and I know that our wedding day would not have been a success without the help of Heather and her team. We were able to enjoy our day because we knew we were in good hands with Heather.
We couldn't have asked for better food! Wolfgang Puck catered our wedding and we included everything from mini sliders to herb roasted chicken to s'mores dipped in chocolate. Desserts hold a special place in our hearts so we wanted to have as many desserts as main entrees!
The planning process can be extremely overwhelming especially towards the end. Remember to find time where wedding discussion is off limits and you just enjoy each other's company. We would carve out entire weekends to relax and recharge with each other. Also, try to write each thank you note for every gift you get within one week. I diligently followed this rule and it was a relief to come home from the honeymoon knowing that 97% of my thank you notes had already been mailed.
We hired the dj Tom Chandler from California Sounds Mobile DJ. We gave him a style of music that we liked and he took it from there. He knew exactly what we wanted and we really liked working with him.
After tasting cakes from many vendors and not finding anything we liked, we were thrilled when Heather suggested we try Vanilla Bake Shop. We fell in love with the flavors at the tasting and ordered the cake on the spot. Our flavors were triple berry, vanilla lemon berry, and black and white raspberry. We wanted light summery flavors and it tasted even better than we had remembered.
Since the day we met, Los Angeles has served as the backdrop for our relationship. We naturally wanted to infuse our wedding day with elements of the city where we met, fell in love, and chose to make our home. I grew up by the ocean and we chose to have the ceremony at my childhood church that overlooks the Pacific ocean. We then discovered we could have our reception at the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City, again paying homage to our Los Angeles theme. And they even let us borrow the original Ghostbusters mobile!
