A Napa Valley Wedding at Meadowood Photographed by onelove photography

By now it's no secret how much we adore California Vineyard and Winery Weddings ... we have an entire section of our wedding blog dedicated to them! It's also not a secret that we are obsessed with the work of onelove photography ... so put those two together and you get a ushy-gushy love-fest. This gorgeous wedding took place at Meadowood in Napa Valley and the colors, details, and the bride and groom (can you say gorgeous!!!) are perfection.

My florist, the AMAZING Pat Friday of Friday Flowers, was truly a highlight of the planning process and her work is first class. She loved weaving in my grandmother’s antique silver headpiece – and she did it in the most beautiful way possible. The flowers at our wedding made the entire look come together. I adored the mix of mercury glass, aged driftwood and antique silver. Not only is Pat’s floral work better than I have ever seen, she is one of the kindest, most thoughtful people I have ever met! She sent a beautiful bouquet to my bridal suite the day before the wedding with the sweetest note. After 6+ months of working with her for my wedding, I can honestly say I ADORE her and hope I can hire her again.

We chose Meadowood in Napa Valley because of its stunning natural beauty, refined simplicity and the unmatched quality they deliver. Specifically, the five-star gourmet food and service, expansive wine selection and the endless small details that make Meadowood any girl’s dream wedding venue. I knew I wanted an outdoor wedding so that the scenery, landscape and setting could act as the main decoration. Meadowood delivered on all fronts.

Before I discovered that Ben went to school with Sara of onelove photography, I had been following her work on all the top wedding websites for well over a year. I adored her work – I hadn’t seen anything like it. But honestly, I didn’t think we could snag her since I expected her schedule to be booked for the next 10 years! Oh the beauty of high school friends! I felt like we had won the lottery that WE got to have Sara as our wedding photographer. There’s no need to explain why I wanted her as our photographer – her stunning work speaks for itself. I consider her the best in the business.
And her working style makes Sara an even better photographer - she makes it so fun and easy. I loved that she added to the fun of the day. Her approach is so easy-going yet extremely professional.

I wanted to make sure that not only were our wedding cakes beautiful, but they tasted even better. Growing up with a Mom who made the best tasting cakes around, I knew that quality of flavor was more important than display – I wanted to make sure guests at my wedding LOVED the cakes. So, I enlisted my childhood next-door neighbor, Jennifer Praun, a classically trained pastry chef and manager of Kara’s Cupcakes. She made cake tasting so fun! Ben and I sampled a variety of flavor combinations – different cake bases, with mixtures of fillings and icings. We decided on three different cakes: the first, a classic yellow cake with lemon Chantilly cream filling and fresh strawberries and a Italian buttercream frosting; the second, a rich chocolate cake with salted caramel filling and chocolate ganache filling; and third, an indulgently moist carrot cake with decadent cream cheese filling and frosting. Despite Jennifer making more cake than needed for our 160 guest count, there was NO cake left at the end of the night – not even the top layer that was supposed to be saved for our first anniversary. Ben and I were just glad that everyone loved it as much as we had hoped.

As much as it may get stressful with costs and opinions from others, try your best to enjoy it. The planning time is an opportunity to include and involve people who love you – and it means so much to them – probably more than it does to you. After your wedding is done, you will want to look back on all that planning with fondness. So when things get stressful, take a deep breath and remember all the years you dreamed about planning YOUR wedding. This is it – have fun and make it a time to become closer to friends and family.
