What is your venue and why did you choose it?

We are getting married at the historical Fairmont Palliser Hotel in heart of downtown Calgary. We initially considered having an outdoor wedding but Calgary’s unpredictable weather made us uncomfortable relying on Mother Nature. The Hotel’s Canadian Pacific Railway Pavilion is a beautiful glass-encased rotunda that gives the feel of being outside and the Hotel’s Alberta Room has beautiful elevated ceilings.

What are you most excited about for your wedding day?

Oh there are so many things but I think that the moment I look forward to most is walking down the aisle on my father’s arm, towards the man of my dreams, surrounded by those I love.

Is there anything you are nervous about for your wedding day?

I fear that amidst all the excitement and activity that I won’t get a chance to take everything in. I'm afraid that it will all pass too quickly!

What is your wedding theme or concept going to be?  What inspired it?

We let our beautiful reception room dictate our wedding colors: ivory, antique gold, and slate blue. Our overall theme is organic elegance and our florals will consist of succulents and ivory blooms added to natural elements like wood and moss.

Did you decide to hire a wedding coordinator?  Why did you decide this?

Initially I thought that I could do everything on my own but, with no event planning experience, I realized that I really needed someone to help me sort through my ideas and help bring them to life. We have enlisted the team at Lynn Fletcher Weddings to organize the décor and day-of logistics.

Where are you planning to go for your honeymoon?

For our honeymoon, we are going to go on safari through Kenya and Tanzania, then travel the coastline of South Africa. On our way home from our African adventure, we’ll spend a couple nights in Amsterdam.

What are some of your favorite wedding planning blogs and tools?

Favorite Book: The Wedding Book – The Big Book for Your Big Day by Mindy Weiss
Favorite Blog: Style Me Pretty
Favorite Magazine: Martha Stewart Weddings

Is your husband-to-be helping with the planning?  What are his jobs?

My fiancé's #1 role has been keeping me sane! He has accompanied me to several vendor meetings and has had input in every decision with the exception of my dress.

What is your best advice to brides who are currently planning their wedding?

Relax! I’ve learned that I cannot stress about the things that are out of my control.

Are you planning to see each other before the ceremony for photos?  Why or why not?

This is one of the tougher decisions that we’ve faced but we have decided to do a first look. We believe that the ceremony will still be every bit as special and this way the day will flow more seamlessly for our guests.

What are 3 words that describe how you feel right now?

Full of Anticipation
