When did you become engaged?

April 17, 2010

When is the big day?

April 9, 2011

Who are the wedding vendors that you have already decided to hire?

InTandem Photography - An amazing husband and wife duo! One of my biggest priorities when choosing vendors was a great photographer and I can honestly say they have surpassed any expectations I've had so far. These are pictures we'll have for a lifetime and I know we're in good hands.

Cake: Michelle's Patisserie

Flowers: Bouquets of Austin

Band: The Sophisticates

What is your venue and why did you choose it?

Vintage Villas here in Austin! It sits up on a hill and overlooks Lake Travis, which makes for some incredible views. It's definitely a "one stop shop" kind of place, which makes it that much easier on us. Our big day can be focused more on having fun and enjoying every minute instead of worrying about the little details.

What are you most excited about for your wedding day?

The idea that all of our friends and family will be there with us to celebrate such an important day in our lives. We have several family members and friends coming in from out of town so we feel pretty special that they're willing to take the time out of their lives to be there with us. It's going to be a great day!

Is there anything you are nervous about for your wedding day?

Rain!! We should have known better than to plan an outdoor wedding in April! Luckily, there is a backup plan if need be. I'm just crossing my fingers it doesn't come to that.

What is your wedding theme or concept going to be?  What inspired it?

We're keeping it pretty simple and low key. I want the views and scenery to be the big focal point so everything else was kept pretty low maintenance. The colors, flowers, etc are all with the idea of Spring and the time of year for the wedding.

Did you decide to hire a wedding coordinator?  Why did you decide this?

No, I'm fortunate enough to have a mother who will take on anything I ask of her, and a sister and bridesmaids that would do just about anything to help me out, which I'm so appreciative of. On top of that, Vintage Villas handles a lot of aspects to the wedding so there isn't as much to organize and coordinate, which is great.

Where are you planning to go for your honeymoon?

If we do end up taking a trip it will be a last minute one. Nothing is planned as of yet, but I'm sure we'll both need a vacation after the wedding is over.

What are some of your favorite wedding planning blogs and tools?

Style Me Pretty, Once Wed, Style Unveiled and The Knot have been my "go to" for all things wedding. They are all great sources for inspriation and ideas, and it's fun to see what other people have done and take that and make it your own or incorporate it into your wedding.

Is your husband-to-be helping with the planning?  What are his jobs?

I'm an extremely plain eater so I'm letting him handle the food so our guests don't end up with turkey sandwiches and chicken tenders! He's also a big music lover so he'll handle the band and ceremony musician. Luckily, he's willing to help out in any way he can so it's just a matter of him taking on the things he enjoys the most.

What is your best advice to brides who are currently planning their wedding?

If you have the time, plan in stages. I did a little bit here and there so it didn't seem so overwhelming. I picked a few key things that I really cared about (my dress and the photographer), made that my first priority and went from there. Also, don't be afraid to ask for help or advice if you need it!! I didn't have a clue what I wanted for flowers, but my florist was able to narrow it down and give me great ideas. After all, they're experts for a reason.

Are you planning to see each other before the ceremony for photos?  Why or why not?

We aren't going to see each other before the ceremony. We both like the idea of the excitement and anticipation all wrapped up in that moment we see each other.

What are 3 words that describe how you feel right now?

Excited, Anxious and a little nervous :)
