When did you become engaged?

When is the big day?

Who are the wedding vendors that you have already decided to hire?
We have hired Llanes Weddings for photography and Valley and Co. for our wedding coordination. We also hired ChileCo Catering with Chef Scotty, Concepts Event Design for all our rentals, and Miss Parfaite for our invitations.
What is your venue and why did you choose it?
We are still looking for our church. Since both Brad and I have lived in Europe for the past 4 years we fell in love with the absolutely stunning historic catholic churches they have in western Europe. Our goal would be to find something similar near La Jolla.
Our reception will be at the Scripps Oceanography Forum in La Jolla. We choose it because of the modern design against the natural beauty of the ocean. It seemed to be the perfect setting to show our many guests from out of the area, what a fabulous city we live in.
What are you most excited about for your wedding day?
Having my Dad walk me down the aisle. Marrying my future husband!!! And having all of our favorite people in one place at one time. We are both so family oriented that to combine everybody into one big party is a dream come true.
Is there anything you are nervous about for your wedding day?
That I won’t be as relaxed as I would like to be..i.e. just letting things flow and able to have a good time without stressing that everyone is having a good time. I am lucky that Brad is my calming force in life so I am confident he can help me to make this happen. Also, my parents are so easy going and great that I can just rely on them.
What is your wedding theme or concept going to be? What inspired it?
Classic Beach. Sophisticated Fun. Us moving to San Diego has inspired this theme. We wanted our family and friends to get to know the place where we are going to spend our first years of marriage together
Did you decide to hire a wedding coordinator? Why did you decide this?
OH MY GOODNESS yes. We hired the best wedding planning team ever – Aleah and Nick from the Valley and Co. Both Brad and I were moving from Germany to San Diego and I still was continuing my job and flying back and forth so we needed help. Aleah has been a complete blessing.
Where are you planning to go for your honeymoon?
Nothing is on the books yet, but the talk is about heading somewhere is SE Asia.
What are some of your favorite wedding planning blogs and tools?
Inspiration collages and real brides sharing their experiences.
Is your husband-to-be helping with the planning? What are his jobs?
Brad is the best. He is definitely more interested in being involved than I thought he would be. Actually he is the one who interviewed Nick and Aleah to be our wedding planners while I was in Milan on business and knew they were right for us. The areas that are in his control are the entertainment elements – bar, music, food, but has been involved pretty much throughout it all.
What is your best advice to brides who are currently planning their wedding?
Hire a wedding planner. I could not imagine doing this without Aleah or my mother. It has allowed my mom and I to concentrate and talk about the fun stuff without getting stressed out. Also, try not to have all of your conversations revolve around your wedding. Don’t let it consume you – just have a good time with it.
Are you planning to see each other before the ceremony for photos? Why or why not?
I go back and forth on this one. I know I will want to see him privately but there is also something so romantic to see each other and only communicate through your eyes and smile. We utterly trust Jenny and Joseph to bring out the romantic moments between the two of us in our photos so I don't feel pressured to choose one way or the other.
What are 3 words that describe how you feel right now?
Blessed, Blissful, Excited
