What is your venue and why did you choose it?

We found our reception venue first and we fell in love. The Sanchez House is a 200-year old Spanish home on the water. Its character and personality shine through its stone construction and ivy covered walls.

We wanted everything to be within walking distance for our guests so when we looked for a ceremony venue we searched for locations near the Sanchez House. Jeff suggested that we look at the Llambias House which is part of the St. Augustine Historical Society and is around the corner from the Sanchez House. Once we visited we realized how well it compliments the Sanchez House in feel and age. It too is an old Spanish home made of stone with a beautiful garden perfectly suited for our outdoor wedding.

What are you most excited about for your wedding day?

I'm excited for my father to walk me down the aisle, for Jeff to finally see me in my wedding dress, for my brother to stand beside me as my man-of-honor, and to celebrate with friends and family.

Is there anything you are nervous about for your wedding day?

With an outdoor venue, I'm most worried about the weather. All we can do is have a back-up plan - tents for rain and venue insurance for hurricanes. As long as the weather cooperates I won't be worried.

What is your wedding theme or concept going to be?  What inspired it?

We're less focused on a theme and more focused on color and lighting. We want to create a mood of sophistication with the colors ivory, green, and steel gray and balance that mood with a party atmosphere. In order to do so, we're draping the Sanchez House will strands of globe string lights and using large quantities of candles in mason jars.

Did you decide to hire a wedding coordinator?  Why did you decide this?

Yes and no. With the help of our families, Jeff and I planned almost everything on our own. However, we hired a wedding coordinator for the rehearsal and the day of to make sure that everything runs smoothly. I have worked with our coordinator before on special events and I feel fully confident in her ability to keep everyone on track and on time. I know that with her there I won't have to worry about a thing.

Where are you planning to go for your honeymoon?

We're going to Thailand!

What are some of your favorite wedding planning blogs and tools?

Real Simple Weddings is amazing! Martha Stewart Weddings is good too. Spending time looking at on-line photos of similar kinds of weddings was very helpful - there are a lot of beautiful weddings to take inspiration from. I'm also very fortunate to have friends who are professional designers that understand the importance of details and have provided invaluable advice.

Is your husband-to-be helping with the planning?  What are his jobs?

Jeff has been amazing! He has taken on so many projects for this wedding that if I list everything he's done it will look like I didn't do anything. Something I really appreciated was that Jeff found both the reception and ceremony venues - that was a huge help!

What is your best advice to brides who are currently planning their wedding?

Get as much done as early as possible so that you're sure to have your choice of preferred vendors and venues and so that you can enjoy the months leading up to your wedding.

Are you planning to see each other before the ceremony for photos?  Why or why not?

There are some traditions I like and seeing each other for the first time as the bride walks down the aisle is one of them. This is one of those timeless wedding moments that I'm looking forward to.

What are 3 words that describe how you feel right now?

Fortunate, grateful, and happy.
