Today we're bringing you a gallery of some cute wedding announcements! This set comes from the design masters over at Wedding Paper Divas. With all of the correspondence that goes along with a wedding, we know that wedding announcements can be one of the more formal/overlooked ones.
To help you navigate when and why you would send a wedding announcement, we've tapped Jennifer Fox of Perfect Planning Wedding and Events in Portland, OR - a Style Unveiled member - to help you along :)
Q: What is the difference between wedding announcements and invitations?
Jennifer Fox: A wedding invitation is sent out to those you wish to see at your wedding. A wedding announcement is simply that, an announcement saying we have gotten married.
Q: Who receives a wedding announcement? Weren't these people just at the wedding?
Jennifer Fox: Announcements are to be sent to those who you know will not be attending your wedding due to constraints on guest count or because the location of the event is too far for them to attend.
Q: Every piece of wedding stationery seems to have crazy rules about how to address and when to send. Are there any special addressing rules for announcements?
Jennifer Fox: The ideal timing of the correspondence Announcements may be sent out up to a year after the wedding has taken place (although, I wouldn’t recommend you wait this long). A lot of couples send announcements out when they return from their honeymoon.
Q: I *really* want the stuff on my registry... is this the spot where I can include info about it?
Jennifer Fox: Etiquette on including registry info Registry information should not be included in your announcements. It should be treated the same way as your invitation; by word of mouth.
Additionally, Style Unveiled would recommend checking in with your wedding photographer to clarify about the cost and turn around time of receiving a handful of images to be used for wedding announcements and thank you cards! This helps everyone to be on the same page :)
